Your notepad is
one shake
away.
Shake your mouse side to side and a small pad opens right beside the cursor. Type the thought, press Esc, and get back to work. ShakeNote saves it with the app and window you were in.
Shake. Jot. Esc.
That’s the whole thing. No hotkey to remember, no window to find. The pad opens where your eyes already are, then gets out of the way.
-
01Shake
Move the mouse quickly side to side, anywhere. A blank pad opens right beside the cursor, kept on the screen you’re working on.
-
02Jot
Type the thought. The footer shows the app and window you were in. That’s saved with the note.
-
03Esc
Press Esc or click away. “Saved · to drawer” flashes and you’re back where you were. An empty pad saves nothing.
Won’t it pop up by accident?
It takes four quick back-and-forths. It ignores the mouse while you drag or select, and stays quiet over fullscreen apps. Set it to Low, Medium or High in Settings, or pause it with Ctrl+Alt+P.
Rather use the keyboard?
Ctrl+Alt+N opens the pad at the cursor and saves it when pressed again. Ctrl+Alt+S opens your saved notes.
Every note remembers where you were.
The moment you shake, ShakeNote reads which app and window are in front. Later you’ll see that a thought came from a lecture you were watching, a call you were on or the file you had open, and you can search for it that way.
Everything you jotted, one edge away.
A thin tab rests on the right edge of your screen. Click it, or press Ctrl+Alt+S, and the drawer slides out with your notes, newest first, grouped by day. Click away and it’s gone.
